Observations & Context

  • Many of these burglaries occur in the early hours (around 2–4 am), when businesses are closed and fewer people around giving burglars opportunity for forced entry (shutters, smashed windows, roof entry, ram‑raids).
  • A variety of business types are targeted: retail shops (clothing, cosmetics), convenience stores, supermarkets, small independent shops, coffee shops — so no single sector is immune.
  • Items stolen are often high‑value & easily resalable: cash, jewellery, electronics (laptops, phones, iPads), clothing/accessories, cosmetics, etc.
  • Police across different regions are actively investigating, making arrests — in some cases before suspects even resell items — showing a coordinated law‑enforcement response.
  • The burden on small/independent businesses seems especially heavy: as noted in the Leighton Buzzard series — “some shop owners have incurred the loss of vital funds and assets.
