April 22nd 2018 is the day of the 38th London Marathon. More than 39,000 people are expected to finish this year’s race and tens of thousands more will be cheering at the sidelines along the 26.2 mile route.

One of those runners will be our very own John Sanderson! John started running a few years ago and was bitten by the bug. Since then he’s gone from strength to strength and is now going to form part of the men’s elite race, up against the likes of Mo Farah. This is the first of three races he’ll run alongside Mo – and as he says, if he doesn’t beat him this time there’s always the next two races!

It’s set to be a rather warm day for all the runners, the press touting it as “the warmest on record”. But John is not deterred. “I run by heartbeat,” he says, “not pace, so I’ll be fine.” We’ll take your word for it John – the rest of us “non-runners” aren’t quite sure what that means, but if you’re fine, we’re fine.

John – the team at SS Systems wish you all the very best. We’ll be glued to the TV screens to keep an eye out for you. Here’s to a great race – enjoy. We’ll be here on Monday with the pain relief stocked up in the first aid cabinet and a camera to snap a shot of the medal.
