Project Summary:

Where previously the building was an empty shell, a free-standing timber structure within it has been installed, protecting the ruin, and creating a new roof deck to provide magnificent views over the surrounding area. On the lost first floor, dramatic aerial walkways open up hidden rooms for the first time since it was gutted by fire in 1684.  The heritage site undertook a modern approach to make a visitor experience enhanced whilst providing a safe environment for access and egress to all visitors and site staff.

Issues:

Inside, new walkways and staircases opened up parts of the tower that have been off-limits for centuries, and immersive soundscapes with installation materials to be fitted and not seen.

Project:

SS Systems was tasked with providing a multi-disciplined modern installation. Cabling and aesthetic constraints provided a daily challenge to the site team to install a system that conformed to the British Standard and Project Management requirement.

Challenges:

Ad hoc site attendances to allow all trades onsite to work together with small windows of opportunity to complete installation allowing site progress on a tight schedule. Cable routes sensitively sought and approved using our heritage experience.

Completion:
