The last few months has been a period of change for SS Systems.
We recently signed a lease on new premises not far from our existing offices. It was getting a little tricky for some people to find a desk to sit at so we decided a while ago that it was time to move to somewhere bigger. It’s going to take us a little time to get the works done on the building but we’re hoping that over the next few months we’ll be moving in. We will of course notify all our contacts when that happens – put our planned “posh coffee machine” to good use!
There are also a number of staff changes to let you know about.
With sadness, we said goodbye to Natalie in August – our business development manager who has been with us for 9 years. Nat will be missed, but we wish her all the best in her future career.
Tom Batty joined us mid-September as our new business development manager. Tom comes from ADT with years of experience in the industry so we’re expecting great things of him and look forward to welcoming him into our team.
It has always been our plan to expand our maintenance division, and to that end we have recruited Chad Evans as our senior service engineer. Chad has been working for us as a sub-contractor and we felt that his skill set would certainly suit the role. He will be splitting his time between working in the office and out at clients. Between Chad and Amanda (our service administrator), and of course our engineers, we’re all set to provide our maintenance customers with great service and technical support.
The month ended with us saying a sad goodbye to our install manager, Dan Parkin. Dan lives in Manchester and the daily commute was taking its toll, so when he was offered a great job over the other side of the Pennines, he decided it was time to move on. He left last Friday after a good send off – we wish him all the best (though the office won’t be the same without him and his beard).
And last but not least, there’s Michelle (me) – officially joining the company as employed commercial director after four years working as a consulting finance director. The role enables me to expand the role to include not just finance, but also marketing and business growth.
They say that change is as good as a rest, so in reality SS Systems should feel like a very peaceful place!
Seriously, whilst change can bring its challenges, it is good to know that as a company we are moving forward and that the team is expanding. We are looking forward to the next 20 years!
